Youngku Sohn 손영구
Professor, Department of Chemistry, Chungnam National University
Youngku Sohn serves as a Professor in the Department of Chemistry at Chungnam National University in South Korea. He achieved his PhD from the University of British Columbia in Canada in 2004. Following this, he engaged in postdoctoral research at both the University of Texas at Austin (2005–2007) and the University of Waterloo in Canada (2007–2008). During the period spanning from 2008 to 2017, he held a faculty position at Yeungnam University. Presently, his research is primarily centered around surface chemistry, encompassing areas such as electrocatalysis, photocatalysis, thermal catalysis, CO2/CO energy conversion, water splitting, ammonia synthesis, and phosphor materials.

Research Interests
Energy & environmental (photo/thermal) catalysis — CO2-to-energy conversion, hydrogen production, air purification, and energy storage; surface chemistry; materials synthesis chemistry; development of (magnetic) phosphors (visible and near-IR); environmental and bio-sensing.
